Die AKTE GURKE { Gurkengeschichte } the Gherkin Files
How did the Gherkin-Men come into being? Did the first Gherkin come from outer space? How was a human somehow transformed into Gherkin-Man? Or did the Gherkin want to become ‘human’? Did a human eat so many Gherkins that? Why do Gherkin-Men grow in the Gherkin woods? How did they free themselves and managed to move independently through the World? Where exactly is that Gherkin Forest? Was it the red beam from the East which came first – Bulgakov* had already described it – or was it a Gherkin cloak, as in Gogol’s story? Why do some Gherkins have a nose? Why is there a Wurm’s Gherkin Monument in the Wuppertal Forest? What about the Gherkin Hand? These and other questions we have attempted to explore here. From 27.6 > 27.7.2026 this small universum lands @K1 showcase, Warp-art, Sint Niklaas.
* The fatal Eggs, Mikhail Bulgakov, 1925.
A wandering into 'Gherkin' World. The creation of a section of a parallel reality into our perception. Reconstructions, apparatus, laboratory installations, a space rock, everything is staged, but isn't our so called 'reality' staged as well? From 27.6 > 27.7.2026 this small universum lands @K1 showcase, Warp-art, Sint Niklaas. (a flythrough)
Drawings of Gherkin-experiments in/of a parallel world. It is not clear what was first, the drawings, the elaborations? Does the inner thought present itself as a drawing or through reality, or is it a state in between?
Words. What are they? Do they serve as questions, a foundation for reflections? How can we translate words / thoughts from one language to another, and how do they convey meaning related to the language they 'belong' to? Do words have an identity?
A random and growing collection of (widely) Gherkin related objects. Ranging from books to objects, postcards and the absurd.
